Welcome to my classes in

Dartford and Bexleyheath

Hello, I’m Tania Birch and since 2011 I have had the amazing privilege of running and teaching Monkey Music classes for babies and preschool children in and around Dartford and Bexleyheath.

As baby and toddler activities go, you can’t get much better than our multi-award winning classes. Despite having so many activities to choose from, parents repeatedly choose to bring their little ones to Monkey Music, often starting when their children are just a few month’s old and staying with us until they are ready to begin school.

I truly believe in the magic that Monkey Music brings to families, so come and join in the fun! Book your first Monkey Music class for FREE and we’ll look forward to meeting you soon.

A little history about Monkey Music’s classes for babies, toddlers and pre school children in Dartford and Bexleyheath

A very good and wise friend of mine gave me some great advice when I was pregnant with my little boy – she said that one of the best gifts that we can give our children is to encourage in them the love of music. My family did just that for me and I can’t remember a time when I didn’t sing, in all sorts of situations and performing many styles of music.

So, when my baby was just a few months old, I made sure that he and I had the opportunity to experience as many different musical activities as possible. And we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves along the way. The journey is by no means over and my own Little Monkey is constantly writing his own brand of funny songs, as well as nurturing an ambition to play the harp!

And when the time came for me to decide what to do next in my career, teaching Monkey Music classes seemed the obvious choice. The first time I experienced Monkey Music I was completely bowled over. The classes really do set the benchmark for preschool activities, with an extensive, progressive curriculum that has been honed over more than 21 years. And the four age groups mean that babies, toddlers and young children have the opportunity to learn at a pace that is right for them, whilst having huge amounts of fun in the process.

So, what can you expect from a Monkey Music group?

The Monkey Music experience has a wonderful flow and structure to it and classes have both familiar and new activities, each week building on what our Little Monkeys have learned in previous weeks. And our teachers aren’t just teachers when they are in class: they are musicians, singers, performers, actors, puppeteers, comedians, baby and child ‘whisperers’ and more. It’s our mission to perfect the art of capturing and keeping the attention of our audience so that they get the most from their weekly visit with Monkey!

Apart from the fact that our classes are a beautiful way of introducing babies and young children to the world of music, we also start them on a gentle journey down the path to nursery, kindergarten and school. We have musical activities that teach skills such as sharing, tidying up (you'd be amazed at how early children start to learn these types of skills!), socialising with other babies and children, listening and watching and of course, lots of fun and games with plenty of multi-sensory and themed props and real musical instruments. And the activities in class will give you lots of ideas for activities to do and play at home with your Little One. Our progressive, 4 stage curriculum contains more than 300 songs, musical games and movement activities and is a mixture of our own specially written songs and rhymes blended with some which are better known.

One mum and teacher wrote, “I’m really pleased to be back at Monkey Music with my second baby. I experienced several different music groups with my eldest son and this (Monkey Music) is the best by far. The structure is very well thought through and I can already see my son growing and beginning to develop those social and group skills that will be key for him when he eventually goes to school.”

So, who should bring their babies and preschool children to Monkey Music?

Well, everyone really! Mummies, Daddies, Grandmas and Granddads, Aunts, Uncles, child minders and nannies, all bring their Little Ones to class.  Monkey Music regularly becomes the highlight of the busy family week, particularly as it is a shared experience that soon becomes an important part of the family routine, with songs being sung in the car, the bath, at bedtime…You can even choose to have a Monkey Music party!

And if the time comes for you to return to work, Monkey Music is often the only regular activity that parents choose to continue with.

And when can you start Monkey Music

You can bring your Little One for their complementary class when they are just three months of age. Our beautiful Rock’n’Roll classes are designed to take advantage of your baby’s development over the weeks and months, slowly moving from the focus on you, to the ever expanding world that they just love to explore. We’ll introduce them to the world of music in a gentle but stimulating way, with lots of sensory activities, props and instruments.

And if you can’t make it to our baby classes, then you can still join the fun at any time. All children are born with innate musicality and if you nurture this early enough, your baby or child is much more likely to go on to achieve their full musical potential. And as we now know, it seems that early exposure to music, rhythm and rhyme has many benefits, particularly when is comes to developing language and numerical skills.
