Clever Monkey

We love to hear from our past little monkeys who have gone on to enjoy music as part of their lives.  Please e-mail littlemonkey@monkeymusic.co.uk with your news so we can share it with your old friends.

 2010 The Brilliant Family!

The Brilliant family from London

We heard along the Monkey Music grapevine that there is a mum in London who has been coming to our classes for the last 12 years with each of her SIX children!  Amanda Brilliant told us that she "would wholeheartedly recommend Monkey Music..............the classes are a good introduction to music and I am convinced that my children have an interest in music as a result of going to Monkey Music classes from a young age, right up to when they went to school".  Brilliant mum - brilliant family!

2010 Gold Medal For Sophia!

Sophia from Hertfordshire

Sophia has been in touch to tell us that she has won a GOLD medal at an Eisteddfod competition held by a local music school.  She has been playing the flute for 3 years and really enjoys her lessons and playing in the school wind band.  Sophia said "I really like playing my flute, especially now I can win gold medals!"

2010 Singing For An Early Supper!

Elspeth from South London

Elspeth is one of only 6 children who have been chosen to represent their school at the Bromley Music Festival which takes place in March.  Her mum is convinced that it was Elspeth's early exposure to music during her Monkey Music classes which has nurtured and developed Elspeth's love of music and singing voice.

Well done Elspeth!

 OTHER PAST MONKEY NEWS...........

Georgia Hits the Right Notes

Georgia from Hertfordshire

We were delighted to hear that Georgia, age 11, has won a music scholarship to a top independent girls' school.  There were 25 outstanding young musicians auditioning for just one music award.  Georgia auditioned on the violin and was chosen as the winner for her 'bright musical personality and natural musical talent'.  Georgia said "I'm really pleased that I have won this scholarship as now I can go to the school that I really like.  I have always loved music, ever since I went to Monkey Music when I was about 2!".

The Voice Of An Angel

Emily from Vale of Glamorgan, Wales

We were thrilled to hear from one of our first little monkeys, Emily, who came along to Monkey Music 13 years ago.  Emily has just won the Young Singer of the Year award for the Vale of Glamorgan .

Congratulations Emily and we wish you lots of luck for the future!  Please stay in touch.

Musical Dad And His Musical Daughter!

Libby from Uxbridge

Another little monkey who has gone from strength to strength is Libby who started to go to Monkey Music when she was 3 years old.  Libby's father, Duncan, is a professional musician and says "I was very interested to see how Monkey Music would approach teaching music to such young children and as I was going to take her along I really wanted an activity that would be fun and engaging for us both"

Monkey Music quickly became part of our regular weekly routine and "I was greatly impressed at the skills Libby learned at Monkey Music, which included listening, reading music, following a conductor, learning about instruments of the orchestra - plus of course the whole family sang the songs non-stop at home".

"Once Libby took up the violin at the age of nearly 8, it became clear that everything she had learned at Monkey Music had given her a great start.  A high distinction mark for her first grade and then reaching grade 5 by the age of 11 led to her being awarded subsidised violin lessons.  She is currently a section leader in her youth orchestra and plays in a quartet.  Music is her biggest social outlet and through it she has already made many new friends".

"Monkey Music is a fantastic way for children to start their music education and I've yet to see any other class that can match it in terms of quality and fun.  I'd recommend it to anyone".

Duncan from Harrow (BA, FRSM.ARCM,LGSM)

Well done Libby and keep up the great work!

Alfie And Ted Rock On!

Alfie from Oxfordshire.

We were very pleased to hear from Alfie who attended Monkey Music classes in Oxford until he was 5 years old.  He thoroughly enjoyed these classes and when the string instrument topic came up at school, he told his teacher that he would be a great violin player when he was older.  And now he is - he plays violin in the County Junior Orchestra and gained his grade 1 with merit last year when he was still only 8.  Alfie has recently started to play the piano - so has added another string to his bow!!

Alfie's younger brother, Ted, also attended Monkey Music classes from the age of 1.  He is now a talented dancer and performed at the Oxford Playhouse last year in 'The Little Wooden Horse'.

Mum, Deborah, attributes her sons' obvious enjoyment of music to those early days at Monkey Music and thoroughly recommends Monkey Music to families everywhere.
