Hello and a very warm welcome to Monkey Music Basingstoke and Alton. My journey with Monkey Music began when I took my daughter, Briony, along to classes in Hertfordshire at the tender age of six months. She and I both loved it instantly and I could clearly see the rhythmic and musical skills, as well as social confidence, that she gained from the lessons. Indeed, she was regularly to be seen around town doing the "Peek-a-Boo" in her car seat!I knew that it would be wonderfully fulfilling to facilitate this growth and enjoyment in other children and so, with great excitement, I opened Monkey Music here in May 2004. I believe that learning to enjoy music is a key skill in a child's development and I find classes so rewarding - watching babies and toddlers learning to bang, tap and stir their drums; to shake, pat, tap or rub their bells; mastering stopping on cue and understanding how to wait for their turn to play. The older children are delighted with learning notation skills, playing musical lotto and identifying different orchestral instruments by sight and sound and even compiling their own music! I have watched shy children blossom socially and been witness to many lovely forms of dancing, swaying and general bopping as well as some fabulous singing! I can scarcely believe that Julia has been teaching for me for a whole year - time has flown by. Julia's enthusiasm and commitment to her classes has been recognised not only by me but by many of our customers and she has been a great hit! As a busy Mum of three, Julia continues to play the piano to a high standard and she is actively involved in local village music groups. Mummies, Grannies and carers regularly tell Julia and me how much they enjoy our classes, so if you would like to experience a piece of Monkey Music action for yourself, please do contact me for further details and to organise a complimentary class.
