Hello! Welcome to Monkey Music in Bromley, Chislehurst and Hayes. My name is Helen Whitaker, I play piano and double bass and have a music degree from Oxford. For many years I worked as an Orchestra Manager, but learned about Monkey Music through taking my own daughters to classes. I took over Monkey Music in the Beckenham area in 2002, and enjoyed my first year of teaching so much that when the chance came to run classes in Bromley and Chislehurst as well, I couldn't say no. Although I'm very busy, I really enjoy teaching and seeing the children develop, both musically and socially, while having so much fun. Important milestones seem to happen in Monkey Music classes, my own daughter Ella (now 12) took her very first steps in a class back in 1998! Also, friendships are forged with other like-minded mums and carers, and that can be very enriching as your children grow up together and become friends in their own right. Again, I speak from personal experience here! If you would like to come along and see what Monkey Music is all about, please don't hesitate to get in touch by email or phone. I would be happy to arrange for you to have a complimentary class at any of our venues, at any stage in the term. I look forward to seeing you soon.
Please ensure that you have booked your class before attending!

News
Well, the main news is that we are saying 'Goodbye' and a very big thank you to Claire Boyle, who has been a much loved Monkey Music teacher in Chislehurst for the last few years. She is moving to the country with her family and is already looking forward to putting Monkey into a little pair of pink wellies. Claire will be greatly missed by lots of little monkeys and their carers, some of whom are still wiping their eyes at her departure.......... We wish her all the very best for her new life.
I will be jumping back in the saddle in Chislehurst on Wednesdays to take over from Claire, and am really looking forward to being over in BR7 once again after a break of a couple of years. Our other days in Chislehurst continue as before, with Jacqui teaching on Thursdays and Diane on Fridays. Both are lively, warm and popular teachers who have plenty of experience under their belts and know how to keep the children busy and entertained during the fun half-hour class. All the classes have a good level of interest and I am confident that we will enter another great year of bringing Monkey into the lives of babies and children (and their carers!) in Chislehurst and the surrounding areas. Customers come to us from far and wide - Bexley, Sidcup, Petts Wood and Orpington are seemingly not too far to travel from for those in love with Monkey!
I will be continuing to look after all the Bromley classes on Thursdays and Fridays in our convenient location right next to the Glades Shopping Centre. Our teaching room is a bit smaller in Bromley, so class sizes are a little smaller too. If you think this may suit your child, then perhaps consider Bromley over the other venues.
And finally, a big welcome to Kara Watkins, who is our new Administrator, starting in September. She will be in the office every morning except Tuesday, and will be very happy to help you with class information and availability. If you are visiting our website for the first time and would like to book a complimentary class, Kara is the person to contact. She is also a Monkey Mum, currently bringing her younger child along to classes in West Wickham, and she will be happy to provide first hand information on all things Monkey-related. We look forward to seeing you at Monkey Music soon! back to list |
