Welcome to Monkey Music in Hereford.My name is Kari Vaughan and I am spreading the Monkey Music word here! I trained as a ballet dancer before studying Theatre Design and Theatre Studies at college. I then worked as a nanny to fund my dancing before joining a dance troupe touring the Middle East. It was at this point I realised I wasn't going to be the next Margot Fonteyn and opted for a rewarding career looking after other people's children. I have been a nanny, playgroup helper, run a toddler group and squeezed in three boys of my own. Monkey Music is such fun and I am amazed at how much the children learn without realising it and just enjoying themselves. It is so rewarding to see them gain confidence and master the difficult co-ordination needed for some of the instruments. Keeping everyone's attention can be challenging but my legendary snowman and other props help. It is so rewarding to sit in front of all those little faces. One Mum wrote: "We have loved the way you encourage parent and child to work together in a fun, relaxed and active atmosphere in the early days. More recently, you have promoted independence in the child's individual appreciation of the music they make. Christopher has, we feel, grown enormously in his listening, playing and singing skills. He can use his knowledge gained from these sessions to create and perform his own interpretation of well known songs and instrumental music...Thank you for supporting our child's creative and imaginative thinking skills".
