Hello and welcome to Monkey Music, which has now arrived in Scotland! My name is Alison and I am delighted to be running Monkey Music classes in the Morningside and Pentland area of Edinburgh.
I have always enjoyed music and singing, from learning to play the piano, clarinet and guitar as a child to singing in various choirs and now with my two children. During my university years, I spent a year in France teaching nursery and primary school children and, in my spare time, have been an active volunteer in many children's groups. After a 20 year career in tourism marketing, I felt that it was time for a change and I was keen to combine my love of music with having fun and being creative with young children. When I went along to see Monkey Music classes in action, I loved watching the children's reactions to the songs and their eagerness to get their hands on the instruments! Having tried out some of the songs on my own children and friends and seen how enthusiastic they are (and how quickly they learn the words and music!), I knew that classes would go down well here in Edinburgh.

News

I am delighted to be able to welcome Lesley Scott to the teaching team here in Edinburgh. Lesley is a trained singer with lots of teaching experience and lives locally to where we are launching new classes in Juniper Green Church! Both Lesley and I are looking forward to meeting lots of new monkeys in the area and invite you to come along to our special Open Day on Thursday 2 September, when free taster sessions will be on offer throughout the day at the church. It is also very exciting to be starting up Saturday morning classes in Juniper Green in the Autumn term for all those working mums and dads who don't want to miss out on the musical fun with their little ones!

The Rock'n'roll classes for babies from 3 to 12 months (approx) continue to prove very popular, both as a gentle introduction to group music classes for the babies but also as a relaxing time for parents and carers to engage with their babies in enjoyable musical activities. Many of our existing Rock'n'roll babies are now on the move and will be joining the Heigh ho classes, and it's lovely to have quite a few mums returning with their second and third babies this Autumn!
