Welcome to Monkey Music in Oxford. I am Liz, a busy mum to a toddler and stepmum to a teenage boy, which can be an interesting dynamic at times, but great fun.
My Monkey Music story began when my daughter was 3 months old and I was looking for a musical class to take her to, having been involved with music and singing since I was very young. In my younger years I was a member of Oxford Girls' choir, played violin, piano, viola and sax and eventually went on to achieve a degree in music. Music of all styles is a big part of our family life, and seeing my little girl respond to what she is hearing is one of my great pleasures.
I chose Monkey Music for my daughter as I had previously heard of it and knew it was well established, so booked myself and my daughter in for a trial. We were instantly impressed with the setup and it was so exciting to see the babies so engaged and so responsive to what was going on. We've been committed Monkey fans ever since, and I'm thrilled to be running the Oxford area and spreading the Monkey Music word.
Offering Monkey Music in Oxford means that I combine my love of music, singing, children and meeting people in one fantastic job! It couldn't be done, however, without the support of our three amazing teachers, Karen, Carol and Sophie, who are all experienced Monkey Music teachers and mums as well. We have been established in Oxford since 2001 and are still going strong, with many children coming back term after term and even bringing their baby brothers and sisters! We welcome mums, dads, grandparents or carers, so don't be shy.
We'd love to see you at one of our classes, so please call 01865 326746 or e-mail me at liz.meadowcroft@monkeymusic.co.uk

News
This term has progressed at its usual exciting pace for all of our Little Monkeys. We have celebrated the arrival of summer, learning about the sounds of the seaside (our Rock'n'roll Monkeys have been spellbound by our wave drum!) and we've seen our Heigh ho Monkeys increase their co-ordination skills with their percussion instruments as well as watching our family of ducks grow. Our Jiggety jig Monkeys have been watching their teachers very carefully and have learnt to play in time to the beat as well as learning new songs to practise their skills. The clever Ding dong Monkeys never cease to amaze us with what they can do and have been honing their understanding of rhythmic notation this term. They now also know all about the instruments of the orchestra and one of our Monkey Music mums told us that her children could now identify Timpani and Snare Drums (which she herself hadn't been able to before they started attending our classes). We are delighted that so many of you have signed up for the Autumn term and look forward to seeing lots of new faces at our classes.
Owing to the popularity of classes in Oxfordshire, we are looking for new teachers to join our team. If you have a strong singing voice, own a car and are interested in working with young children and music, then please call Liz on 01865 326746 for further information. back to list |
