Welcome to Monkey Music in Solihull.My name is Gemma Cartwright and I am proud to be starting Monkey Music in Solihull and Shirley. I trained as a primary school teacher specialising in drama and especially musical theatre. I worked as a primary school teacher in Key Stage 1 for 6 years before embarking on my Monkey Music career. During my years teaching I always sought to run choir and after-school singing clubs as well as weekly hymn practise purely due to my love of music. From a very early age I have enjoyed singing and took lessons for several years, entering local competitions and performing in local amateur dramatic productions. Last year I had my little girl and I realised how important it was for her to be given the same opportunities and exposure to music that I had from a young age. I realised that there was a real void in the area of excellent quality pre-school groups in the West Midlands and sought to find one that could offer me and my daughter a great foundation. Monkey Music offers a fun and stimulating environment where children are encouraged to participate with singing, playing instruments, clapping, interacting with their carer or dancing - whatever stage of development they are at. That is why Monkey Music is so good because all 4 classes are completely structured to meet the needs of the children in the specific age range. From my experience of watching classes children are engrossed, stimulated and completely flourish in this wonderful atmosphere that is Monkey Music.
