Hello and a warm welcome to Monkey Music Woking. I am pleased to tell you our story!Monkey Music is a very special organisation, introducing 'little people' to music - and their carers to each other! I am proud to be a part of this mixture where parents are important too. Monkey Music complements my training as a Post-Natal Leader for the National Childbirth Trust, where the focus is making early parenthood a positive experience. I come from a musical family and had musical training throughout my formal education (violin, piano, choir, orchestra and many school productions). On the not so formal side, as a family we had a song for everything and every occasion. We sang in the house, in the garden, in the car and in the bath, finishing each day with lullabies at bedtime. Now, as a mother of two little boys, singing is still a significant part of my life and we have a lot of fun making our own entertainment! I enjoy seeing the pleasure they get from music and movement and how much they develop socially whilst having great fun. I relish the opportunity to pass that enjoyment onto other children and to create an atmosphere where carers can relax for a precious half hour and enjoy being part of their children's learning experience. There are now over 300 enthusiastic little monkeys throughout the Woking area, some of whom have been coming to Monkey Music since we opened in October 2007. It is so lovely to welcome lots of new brothers and sisters too! I am thrilled to have a team of very talented and inspiring teachers who have boundless energy and enthusiasm for Monkey Music and they adore babies and young children. We have had lots of fun throughout the Spring Term. In Ding dong, the children have learned about the Brass and Percussion families of the orchestra. Jiggety jiggers have enjoyed dressing up as astronauts, witches and everything inbetween and in Heigh ho and Rock'n'roll, the children have enjoyed the animal props and we have all enjoyed hearing the grown-ups making animal sounds! |
