At Monkey Music, we understand the importance of music and we're passionate about introducing music to babies, children...
Music was my main subject at teacher training college. In Monkey Music I recognised the huge learning opportunities it gave through the fun, age related curricula perfectly matched to teach young children skills for life in listening, interacting, sharing, watching and socialising as well as developing and nurturing their musical ability.Read more...
Hello! My name is Sue and I own the Monkey Music Fleet franchise. I am a primary school teacher and taught for twenty five years as a classroom teacher, also running choirs, orchestras, recorder and guitar groups, before moving to Fleet in 2003. I wanted a career change after doing some supply teaching and Nursery School teaching, and then I came across Monkey Music and I taught briefly as a Monkey Music teacher for the previous owner; I very quickly realised that Monkey Music was the perfect solution for me! It incorporated both my musical and my teaching skills in a safe and skills based environment. I jumped at the chance to buy the franchise when it went up for sale, and nearly ten years later I haven't looked back! The Monkey Music brand means that wherever you go throughout the country you will know exactly what to expect in your local Monkey Music class. All our Monkey Music teachers go through a rigorous training program before taking on their own classes. Each teacher is carefully chosen for their natural ability to communicate with and entertain young children and their carers, gently encouraging social and musical skills within a fun, stimulating and friendly environment. There is also on-going training for the teachers so everyone is maintaining the same high standard and learning fresh and new ideas when delivering the Monkey Music curricula. The four Monkey Music curricula are very cleverly written. The babies in Rock'n'Roll enjoy listening to beautiful sounds and making their own sounds with our baby-friendly percussion instruments. The toddlers in our Heigh-Ho classes are able to move and dance freely around the room expressing the music they hear with their whole bodies, they develop their musical skills and fine motor skills by using hand held percussion instruments. Older toddlers in our Jiggety-Jig classes love pretending and telling simple stories, they love using our bigger props like the parachute for sharing and making friends, they are starting to create and perform their own special music. The children in the Ding-Dong classes are ready to start to read music, they learn about instruments from the orchestra and their different sounds. By committing to and attending regular weekly classes the children become confident with the structure of the classes and can develop their skills week by week. The benefits of exposing young children to music are huge! It aids the development of speech; singing a simple song teaches your child how language is constructed. Music helps children to learn maths. Music enhances social skills. Music enhances your young child's intellectual development. Music encourages self-expression and self-confidence. At Monkey Music all these skills are developed through a carefully written and honed curricula delivered by a fantastic team of talented teachers! The Monkey Team
I've been teaching Monkey Music classes for over ten years now and I love it! The four age related curricula are brilliantly written and sharing all the wonderful songs and activities in our classes is so rewarding. I love to watch the children thriving and developing their skills.
Kristi Hibbard Jenkins
I have been teaching Monkey Music since 2004 after attending with my baby daughter. A keen amateur violinist I was able to identify the strong musical core and the foundation skills being laid. I love sharing our range of age development appropriate songs and activities with the little ones.
I was a professional dancer specialising in modern dance before training to teach early years. As a Monkey Music teacher I am now able to combine both careers. My love of singing also makes it a perfect career choice. Watching the children grow in confidence and express themselves is so rewarding.
Music is my passion; I play oboe, double bass piano and bassoon and am a classically trained singer. I attended Monkey Music with my two children and we loved it! As a recently trained Monkey Music teacher I delight in the children having fun whilst developing in confidence.
