As an actress with over 20y experience I am extremely passionate about performing arts. Monkey Music encapsulates everything important about pre-school music and wraps it up in a bundle of fun! I love teaching the classes and I am passionate about their value in developing children’s co-ordination and confidence. It makes me smile all day long!

Given my performing background I was keen to take them to lots of groups and classes and I watched the enormous benefits music had on each them during their preschool years – it is something very close to my heart. When I discovered Monkey Music there was no looking back. For me it is the perfect balance between fun and learning – the structure creates a familiarity which my children loved, but the change in content every couple of weeks means the classes stay fresh and interesting. The original songs are lively and varied and the fact that each of the classes is crammed with lovely activities, dances, props and beautiful percussion instruments means there is so much to experience. I love the fact that children are able to be so interactive in a small, friendly class environment where the progressive nature of the fun filled curriculum really encourages them to grow at their own pace and develop their confidence and coordination.
For me there is nothing so rewarding as teaching these classes and watching children blossom in front of my eyes.
Quite often they will start in the gentle, nurturing baby class, Rock’n’Roll. I never tire of seeing their huge eyes staring in wonder at the magical sounds they are hearing. It is very special!
They then move on to our toddler class, Heigh-Ho, once they are gaining independence and becoming mobile. This has a slightly faster pace to keep those busy toddlers stimulated – and we work on developing concentration and interaction.
From there they move up to Jiggety-Jig, our class for 2 and 3 year olds, where they develop a stronger sense of rhythm and turn taking – and they get to work with some extra instruments now that they are a little older.
Ding-Dong is our stage 4 class which is a big jump up. Children start to learn basic graphic notation and rhythm work comes to the fore. They also learn about the instruments of the orchestra. It never ceases to amaze me with how much they absorb during their time in these classes - it is amazing.
The progression through each of the stages is wonderful to watch and I feel extremely proud watching children move through the curricular and fall in love with each of the classes in turn.
I am very lucky to have a strong team of wonderful teachers who assist me in delivering our classes. They come from a strong musical or performance background and each bring very special, individual qualities to their teaching. I would invite you to read below in more detail if you would like to do so.

Monkey music was brilliant entertainment for our little boys birthday party. It totally made the day and all the kids enjoyed themselves. Jo our session leader (both in class and for the party) is a true star
Monkey Music holiday workshops are a popular way to keep children entertained during the holidays. Unlike our regular classes where children are strictly grouped according to age, the holiday workshops cater for a mixed age group of children.
