bfa British Franchise Awards 2020 Finalist - Katherine Mayes

Monkey Music are thrilled to announce that our friend and colleague, Katherine Mayes (Monkey Music Baldock, Hitchin and Welwyn) has reached the finals of the bfa British Franchise Awards 2020 as a Franchisee Finalist. The bfa HSBC British Franchise Awards recognise and promote outstanding professionalism within the British franchise industry.

Despite only ever wanting to play an instrument, classical violinist Katherine Mayes decided two years ago, that in order to support her lifestyle, she would use that passion to teach children music, all while being able to run her own business.

Katherine, who has been shortlisted in the Lifestyle category at the bfa HSBC British Franchise Awards, taking place at the Vox, Birmingham, on November 30, took on the Monkey Music Baldock, Hitchin and Welwyn area at the end of 2018, and has not looked back.

"I am thrilled to be in the finals of the bfa Franchisee of the Year Awards 2020 – as a performer at heart, it feels fabulous to be recognised for my performance.” said Katherine

Pip Wilkins QFP, CEO of the bfa, said: “All Katherine ever wanted to do in her life was play music, and after an incredible career as a violinist, found that ideal balance for her when she began teaching music to children, and having time to spend with her boys in the evenings.”

Andrew Brattesani, Head of Franchising at HSBC, added: “Taking on a franchise two years ago, it is great to see that Katherine has found another calling through music and that head office were so supportive in her journey. Franchising has enabled her to get the best of both worlds.”

Katherine will go head-to-head against two other franchisees in November and we wish her the very best of luck!
