Monkey Music Baby & Toddler Classes Music Classes in Southgate, Winchmore Hill & East Barnet
Tonya Babb 0208 3602730 southgate@monkeymusic.co.ukMy love for Monkey Music started when I took my daughter. I was impressed the quality of the teaching and the originality of the music. My daughter flourished and grew in confidence. I’ve now owned my own franchise for 15 years. The four specific age groups mean that the material and content is perfect for your child. It really is a fabulous class.
Read more...My name is Tonya and I have run Monkey Music in Oakwood, Winchmore Hill, Palmers Green and Southgate sinse 2002. I'm passionate about the delivery of our music classes for babies and toddlers. Through singing and sensory activities we captivate the children. My goal is to make Monkey Music the highlight of everyone's week: the child's, parents, grandparents and carers too.
Our interactive sessions can be booked individually, or as a term, and will be available for you to watch at your convenience throughout the week. Each will follow our educational syllabus and reflect the four different stages of development to ensure that it will capture the attention of your baby, toddler or pre-school child. Before each session, you will be given access to the words of the songs and instructions on key props and instruments used in the session. As they are pre-recorded you can watch them at your convenience through the week and as many times as you want!
Having grown up playing the clarinet and piano and enjoying singing and acting roles at the local theatre, I appreciate how much pleasure music can bring. I first became interested in Monkey Music when I took my own children to classes when they were four months and two years old. I loved the way the experience engaged them. My daughters were full of smiles and learnt so much at every class. My daughters are now grown up, but their love of music continues to this day. In my time running the classes I've taught Monkey Music to thousands of children, giving me a wealth of knowledge and experience to pass on to other families and I still get that buzz when I see the child blossom and develop through attending Monkey Music. I hope that you will enjoy Monkey Music as much as I and my teachers and that is will be a highlight of your week.
Monkey Music's unique structure:
No two sessions are ever the same at Monkey Music. There are over 300 traditional and original songs and a wide variety of props and instruments. I believe that what sets Monkey Music apart from other groups is its in-depth curriculum which is specific for each of our four different age groups. Babies can start as young as four months in Rock'n'Roll. In this session we are keen to develop their senses of the world around them. We use songs describing every day activities and have gentle, unusual sounds to capture their attention. Children aged one move to Heigh-Ho which is best described as fast and furiuos. There is lots of bouncing, dancing and instrument playing and we concentrate on learning to play the drum and stopping and starting on cue to the music. They learn to explore the space around them and to share with their friends. Around the age of two the children begin the Jiggety-Jig class. More complicated concepts are introduced such as listening and interpreting the music and singing together. In the final stage, Ding Dong, the children learn to recognise the instruments of the orchestra and read and write their own music. Each term has a theme with learning objectives and within the sessions the children are captivated by their teacher.
Award winning children's activities in Winchmore Hill, Southgate, Palmers Green and Oakwood:
I'm delighted that the passion for my work has been reflected in the awards I have won. In 2015, I recieved Monkey Music's Head Office award from moving my business 'from good to great'. I have been nominated 'most outstanding activity leader' by 'what's on for little ones' in 2017, 2013, 2012, 2011 and 2010. I have been awarded the Bronze Award by Net Mum and our Facebook page has recieved 41 reviews recieving 5 stars. Recently we won the Best Baby Group and Best activity for 2-4 year olds in Enfield, voted by Sophia's Diary.
When is the best time to start Monkey Music:
We often get asked: 'When is the best time to start monkey Music?' The ear is the first organ to develop fully in the womb and unborn babies take great comfort in hearing their parent's voices. Listening to music and babbling, singing along to the songs is uplifting for any age; for babies, chidren and adults alike. This leads us to say: 'Please join Monkey Music as soon as you can.'
What's next?
I'm certain that if you attend our sessions your child will grow in confidence, improve their listening skills and make new friends.

Just as language skills are developed early in life, so is musical talent. Regardless of the level of music aptitude with which children are born, they must have formal and informal experiences in music to maintain that level of potential.
