Monkey Chatter

Many new parents are excited to go to a baby class but it’s not unusual to feel anxious about attending a baby or toddler class for the first time and you’re bound to have questions about what to expect.

Since Monkey Music classes for babies and toddlers first started thirty years ago, we’ve welcomed thousands of new families to our classes across the UK and we wanted to share the most common worries to reassure you before you embark on your first baby or toddler class.

What do I need to bring with me?

At Monkey Music, everything you need to enjoy our classes is made available by the teacher. We provide mats for your baby or toddler but you may like to bring along your own small blanket for your child to sit on.

Do I need to to sing along?

We love it when families sing along and your baby or toddler will benefit from hearing the sound of a familiar voice, no matter how good or bad!  But – there is no pressure to sing because listening, watching and playing the instruments will keep you and your child busy enough!

What if I miss my class?

We all know there will be days when you won’t be able to make your usual class and at Monkey Music, should you miss a class, you will be able to book a catch-up class at a later date in the same term. If your teacher is unable to make the class, you will be offered a make-up class at a later date in the same term.

What if my baby needs feeding/changing

It doesnt matter if your baby needs a feed or a change during the class and most of our venues offer baby changing facilities. At Monkey Music, you’ll be in the company of other parents and carers with babies and toddlers the same age as yours, who, like your Monkey Music teacher, all understand the needs of little ones.

What if my baby cries?

Babies cry, nobody will mind and you won’t be judged.  Monkey Music classes are designed with babies and toddlers at the centre of them and your teacher and the other adults are on your side and are used to babies crying. Just do what you need to do to calm and reassure your baby and try not to worry.

If you still have any worries or concerns, please do get in touch with your local Monkey Music classes who will be happy to offer friendly advice and reassurance and remember, we offer a first FREE class to all new customers.
