All of our venues have been selected for ease of access and comfort, many offering on site refreshments. Our Monkey Music community is very friendly and new families are welcomed each week with enthusiasm from our teachers and existing Monkey Music families. Many lifelong friends are made at Monkey Music classes.
Our team consists of five teachers and an administrator. I continue to teach classes myself as well as supporting the running of the classes. All of our teachers are very popular and we are able to offer a varied and full timetable of classes.
We would love to welcome you to a complimentary session so you can experience our fantastic pre-school classes yourself and all the lovely musical activities we have to offer you and your child.
How do you know Monkey Music is the right children’s music activity for you? Choosing a music class for your baby, toddler or child is an important decision. At Monkey Music we feel very privileged to teach your children from baby through toddler to pre-school. Seeing their development along the way. Let me share some of the background of our classes here at Monkey Music Vale & Bridgend.
My Name is Emma and I have been running Monkey Music classes for local families in the Vale & Bridgend area since 2008. I became familiar with Monkey Music pre-school classes when my daughter was born in 2007. There were no other classes that could provide a tailored and structured curriculum especially for my baby that met her developmental needs at each stage. Her little face when she saw the instruments, the other babies in the class and the immediate engagement with the teacher made me sure Monkey Music was the best possible introduction to music for her. I have a very strong background in music and teaching myself which led me to look into pre-school music as soon as she was born. In the past there had been a lack of high standard children’s music activities in the area and it was very important for me to find the right musical class for her.
The award winning Monkey Music curriculum is at the heart of our classes. Delivered by trained Monkey Music teachers supported by high quality instruments, resources and props. Every class is a performance for your little one with live singing from our highly skilled teachers. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the class, joining in with the songs isn’t hard- it’s quite infectious. Parents, grandparents and carers of Monkey Music are often seen humming the songs around the supermarket!
Music plays an important role in the early development of a child. Children are natural, instinctive music makers. As parents we naturally try to use music to sooth and calm children. Research has shown that music can aid all areas of child development. In Monkey Music our curriculum uses songs and activities that are carefully selected for each developmental stage. Learning to move to music, explore sounds and resources given to them, socialise with other babies and families, communicate effectively, develop their fine and gross motor skills through playing and dancing to music, listen to themselves and others, strengthen their memory and recall skills… the benefits of music are enormous and develop at each stage which is why our classes are grouped according to age, ensuring a ‘best fit’ for your child. A range of activities are used to stimulate and educate your child at every stage. We teach the children the structure of our classes right from the very first stage. We have four unique age groups.
Rock ‘n’ Roll - for our musical babies aged from 3 months. Lots of sensory stimulation and a specialist kit just for our youngest of babies. That first ‘shake’ is a momentous occasion! An ideal way to teach your baby about everything around them through our themed curriculum. Babies can mimic sounds and move to the music. Music is soothing for them, especially at sleep time. Songs about daily activities communicate an understanding of everyday life to your baby. It doesn’t take long for a bay to start recognising a melody, even before they understand the words.
Heigh-Ho - for our toddlers up to 2 years. A time when our toddlers are very busy and in need of energetic activities. Toddlers love to dance and move. Lots of developed instrument playing, singing and dancing. Relevant themes that encourage your child to begin communicating with you. Repetition of songs encourages memory and recall. Toddlers love to laugh. Their gross motor skills can be developed with activities such as clapping rhythms and dancing to their favourite songs.
Jiggety-Jig - for our 2 & 3 year olds. Musical activities are explored in more detail. The children are encouraged to be more independent of their parents but everyone is still encouraged to sing and play along. Our children are now displaying a range of musical skill on a variety of instruments and even begin to compose their own music. Pre-schoolers aren’t self-conscious about their ability and so sing as loud as they can which is fully embraced. Songs and activities about number and language develop essential language skills.
Ding-Dong - for 3 & 4 years. Children at this stage can read music and explore instruments of the orchestra. Musical activities are explored in more detail. The children are encouraged to be independent of their parents. They compose, listen and sing on their own and in groups. They like to express what they do and don’t like and appreciate a range of musical genres. They have a strong foundation and a range of skills that can be developed when they move onto nursery or kindergarten.
