We are thrilled to welcome Rona to the teaching team from September 2019.

Rona attended classes in our Cramond venue with her daughter Jemima and loved seeing the joy on her face as she jingled along with the fantastic songs! Although Jemima has now graduated up to Heigh-Ho, Rona still sings Rock ‘n’ Roll at bedtime as it’s a beautiful family favourite.

Rona has always had a love of music, at school she and her younger brother played the violin, while her older brother played cello. Rona performed in a number of musicals with Aberdeen Youth Music Theatre and enjoyed being part of her school choir. She is very grateful to her parents for taking her to countless rehearsals and competitions over the years. Rona continued to sing while at University in Edinburgh, and more recently had the pleasure of singing with Sing in The City at the Usher Hall.

Between University and returning to Edinburgh, Rona enjoyed creating innovative workshops as the Family Learning Officer for Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery in Carlisle. She loved bringing history to life through music, handling sessions and costume. A personal highlight of her time across the border was singing two Robert Burns songs on BBC Radio Cumbria to celebrate the bard’s birthday.

Rona met her husband while performing with the Edinburgh Gilbert and Sullivan Society in 2017.  Later that year she took part in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with Cat-Like Tread, another group of Gilbert and Sullivan enthusiasts. In March 2018, Rona took to the stage in her second show with EDGAS. Jemima, as a bump, kicked along at the most exciting moments!

Rona brings energy, enthusiasm, humour and warmth to her teaching role. She runs our Corstorphine venue on Monday mornings, our Cramond venue on Thursday mornings and also teaches at a leading Edinburgh Nursery.
