The beat goes on! The importance of using real instruments at Monkey Music classes

Have you ever wondered why we use real musical instruments at every Monkey Music class?

Giving the babies and toddlers real instruments to play, offers a range of developmental and educational benefits as well as creating a rich and engaging musical experience for the little ones and their carers.

Sensory Stimulation: Real instruments provide a tangible and sensory-rich experience for young children. Feeling the textures, vibrations, and weight of actual instruments enhances sensory stimulation, contributing to their overall sensory development.

Fine Motor Skills: Playing real instruments helps babies and toddlers develop their fine motor skills. Gripping drumsticks, shaking shakers, or tapping woodblocks requires co-ordination and control, promoting the development of hand-eye coordination and dexterity.

Auditory Discrimination: Experiencing the actual sounds produced by authentic instruments allows children to develop auditory discrimination skills. They learn to differentiate between various tones, pitches, and rhythms, laying the groundwork for musical understanding.

Authentic Musical Exposure: Introducing children to real instruments offers an authentic musical experience. This exposure helps cultivate an appreciation for different sounds and instruments, fostering a love for music from a very early age.

Cognitive Development: Actively engaging with real instruments during Monkey Music classes supports cognitive development. Children learn cause and effect as they discover the sounds each instrument produces, and this hands-on experience enhances their understanding of basic musical concepts.

Social Interaction: Sharing real instruments in a group setting encourages social interaction and cooperation among babies and toddlers. They learn to take turns, share, and participate in a collective musical experience, promoting social skills and a sense of community.

Parent-Child Bonding: The use of real instruments in Monkey Music classes encourages parents to actively participate in the musical journey of their children. This shared experience strengthens the parent-child bond and creates positive associations with music and learning.

At Monkey Music we have our own range of beautiful musical instruments suitable for babies and toddlers.  These are all available to purchase from our website at www.monkeymusic.co.uk/shop
