WHAT IS BEAUTIFUL NOISE?
Have you heard about our course for Newborn Babies – Beautiful Noise?
For a long time, we offered a structured programme of 4 age-specific class levels starting from 3 months……then – our clever founder, Angie Coates, had the idea to provide a magical musical world JUST for very new babies that they could come to from birth – and Beautiful Noise was born.
A course run over 5 weeks, an afternoon class every other week (because we know that life with a newborn can be overwhelming and a weekly commitment might be too much at this stage), class videos to share together at home with other family members or just to cuddle up and listen to and a cute kit bag with instruments and a sensory peek-a-boo scarf.
Kingston and Surbiton was one of the first areas in the UK to launch back in the Spring of 2024 and we’ve already run the course for 8 groups – in fact, our first ever Beautiful Noise group met on 19 Feb 2024 and some of those babies are now moving into the Toddler Group with us.
This is SUCH a fabulous experience for new parents – the chance to come together in a safe, warm, welcoming, gentle and calm space, to meet other families with similar age babies and to start a lifetime musical journey together.
It’s absolutely incredible how these brand-new humans react to the amazing percussion sounds, bright and engaging props and – of course – Monkey – who is designed especially to appeal to baby vision with his contrasting colours and simple lines.
We start each session with a gentle sound, taking it around the group to see how the babies are feeling – we look out for physical reactions, little hand or foot movements, a wide eye, turning to work out where the music is coming from – we sing together – we move our babies gently with rhythms – face to face we enjoy fun rhymes and gentle touch – we show them beautiful silk fabrics, shiny reflective spheres, puppets and play wonderful percussion that makes all of us feel relaxed – even the adults!
By the last week of the course – we are amazed by the changes in the babies – those who maybe cried or slept at the start are focusing their eyes on a moving sound, showing us which they like the best – we see little smiles starting to form – we stand up to dance with them and our new friends – it’s a magical experience.
People have come on their own to meet new friends, we’ve had whole antenatal groups join together, friends and family have bought the course as a New Baby Gift – what a fab present to receive!
And then, once the course is over, each family is offered the chance to come to one of our Rock’n’Roll groups for free and join the sessions for babies up to 11 months.
