new parents worry about taking their little one to a baby class because they think they’ll sleep through the class but we’re here to reassure you that you don’t need to worry!

All babies' sleep patterns are different with some babies sleeping for long periods of time, and others sleeping in short bursts. Your baby will have their own pattern and this could well be quite different from other babies you know.

Generally, from 3 months, a baby’s daytime naps will gradually start to get shorter so this is a great time to start bringing your little one along to a Monkey Music class.

Going to a baby class is just as important for you as a parent as it is for your baby! Many of our Monkey Music parents have told us what a lifeline our classes have been and continue to be for them, as they are a great way of establishing a routine, giving them a reason to get out of the house to meet people and make new friends. So if your little one does doze off during a class, please don’t worry, in fact there are scientific studies that claim babies are still learning while they sleep!

Monkey Music’s Rock’n’Roll classes for babies from 3 months provide a stimulating environment using music as a basis to support and encourage child development, but there is no pressure on the babies to stay awake throughout the class, in fact, we actively encourage quiet time during our Time to Sleep section at the end of each class. This is a lovely time for parents/carers to share precious moments listening to a gentle lullaby and having a cuddle with their baby before heading back out into the busy outside world.

At Monkey Music we have created a Time to Sleep playlist; a compilation of soothing Monkey Music songs for you and your little one to enjoy during quieter moments of the day and night and is available to buy and download from our online shop.
