We would love to welcome you and your little one to our music classes. After my son was born, I knew I wanted to share my love of music with him. There were quite a few Monkey Music classes near our home, so I was eager to take him right away, to introduce him to music early, to get into a routine, and become part of a family community in our neighbourhood. Clearly we had a great time, as we are still happy customers 3 years later, although we have moved to a new area, and I’ve decided to share the joy we’ve had with Monkey Music with the families in our new community, and turn that joy into a new career. I remain very impressed with everything about  Monkey Music, the wonderful classes, the structured lesson plans, the progressive musical curricula and wonderful teachers, who are all so talented and passionate!

As a child, I began piano and vocal lessons very early and was always a part of community theatre, and continued this up until university age. I always felt so lucky to have had this foundational knowledge that could be applied to other areas of life and my studies. As an adult, my passion for music has endured, and I love a good playlist for all of my daily routines, as well as frequent trips to the theatre.  In addition to an early introduction to musical theory, the memorisation required, and recognition of patterns, was an integral part of my early education, and provided a useful foundation for so many things, including but not limited to mathematics, foreign language, reading comprehension, spatial intelligence and general study skills.

Children who were exposed to music while growing up excelled better academically than those who were not. Additionally, an early introduction to music allows children to express their creative side and develop a sense of empathy as they develop social skills as part of the amazing curriculum.

Studies show that babies and toddlers who engage in moving to music and music making use more communicative gestures, smile more and are more confident than babies whose experience is to listen more passively to music. Moving to music with our babies also triggers the release of oxytocin which is the hormone that helps us bond with them. As you can see the overall benefits to their development are really very profound providing the support for their development.

Our Monkey Music classes are for babies (from 3 months old), toddlers and children up to 4 years and have been honed over the past 25 years to ensure we are making the most of the 30 minute lessons. The progressive lessons are written specially for each age group. Our music classes are packed with learning opportunities, specially written Monkey Music songs and lots of wonderful instruments which the children play along with. We know that children learn best when they are enjoying themselves!  

I am sure that Monkey Music will provide you and your little ones with the opportunity to  share precious time together, a sense of community, early education skills and a lot of fun!  I also hope we can continue to be a source of comfort and consistency during these uncertain times at the moment.

Although I won’t be teaching much myself I am delighted to have a team of amazing specialist teachers who will be leading the way, whilst I am very much in the background.
